The deduction from your income is too high

If we have started enforcement and you believe that the deduction in income is too high, you apply to have it changed or stopped.

Once we have received your application, we will consider the deduction amount again. If we find that the deduction is too high, we'll notify your employer or NAV that they must reduce the deduction. They cannot change the deduction until we have notified them to do so.

If you’re unable to use online services, you can also submit your application on paper. The application must be in writing and state why you believe the deduction is too high.

Send the application to:

Statens innkrevingssentral
Postboks 455
8601 Mo i Rana

Information in the application

When we process your application, we'll only consider the information you have provided proof of. This is why it’s very important that you include proof that the information you provide is correct.

Examples of information that may be important to attach proof of:

  • whether your income has been reduced
  • new expenses that we may take into consideration and that are not already registered
  • increases in existing expenses, for example, your rent
  • changes in your marital status, so that you now pay all the expenses yourself
  • whether you are supporting your spouse/cohabiting partner

You do not have to provide proof of cost of living expenses.

Important information

Note that if your application to reduce the deduction is granted, it will take longer to pay off the claim.

If interest on overdue payment is added to your claim, this will also mean it may take longer to pay off the claim.

How we calculate the deduction amount

We'll use the information we have about your financial situation. Unless you’ve submitted information to us before the deduction starts, we use standard rates for expenses such as rent.

Note that when you apply to reduce the deduction, this is not automatically granted. We'll consider the information we have and the new information you've provided to calculate whether the deduction amount is correct.

If you're granted a reduction in the deduction amount or to have it stopped, your employer or NAV (who have the obligation to make the deduction) will be notified by us.

You should have money to cover cost of living expenses

You should have money to cover cost of living expenses. This means that if our calculation shows that you do not have enough money to cover the cost of living, we will not be deducting money from your income. Once your financial situation improves, we'll start deducting money again.

Generally, you will not be refunded any money

If we've started the deduction and you provide proof of increased expenses, we will not refund any of the money you've already had deducted. The money is used for payment towards your unpaid claim.

If your application to reduce the deduction amount was granted, we'll refund the overpayment made after we received your appeal.
