When will you receive the compensation

The payment of the compensation to you depends on the financial situation of the person who's required to pay it.

If the person who owes the money pays the full compensation amount in one go, you'll receive the full compensation amount as one payment.

If the person who owes the money cannot pay the full amount at once, we can collect the compensation claim through enforcement proceedings. We'll then, for example, make deductions from their income, or place attachments on accounts or properties. If we make deductions from their income, you'll be paid the amount that is deducted every month. If there are more than one injured person in the same compensation case, the payment will be divided between the injured persons.

We cannot pay you in advance

Before we can pay you any of the compensation amount, we must collect it from the person who owes you money.

The debtor must have enough to cover cost of living expenses

It's important to know that even if the person who must pay the compensation has a salary or benefits, he or she must have enough money left to cover their cost of living expenses. This means that the financial situation of the person who must pay the compensation will affect how quickly you'll be paid the compensation.
