Collection in connection with bankruptcy

We'll always try to collect the money that you owe even if you're bankrupt. When you’re bankrupt, you lose the right to decide what happens to your assets.

In Norway, bankruptcies are handled by the district court. The Norwegian National Collection Agency (SI) can, on its own initiative, petition the district court for bankruptcy, or we can report claims to the estate when others have filed petitions for bankruptcy. If there are any assets in the estate, it may be used to pay off your debt.

The claim will remain even if you're personally bankrupt

If you're personally bankrupt, claims that are not covered in full by the bankruptcy estate will still remain. This will also apply to you as the owner of a sole proprietorship.

Deduction from your salary if your employer is bankrupt

If you have deductions from your salary and your employer goes bankrupt without transferring the money to us, you must send us a copy of your payslips showing that the deductions were made. We can then reduce your claim correspondingly according to what should have been paid to us.
